I will never get tired of this scene (Boston Legal). Spader's delivery, every time

Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.

Classic!

The sad thing is that that is precisely how it works.

The other valid defense in the great state of Texas is “The bastard needed killin’.”

At long last I have two new windows in my room under construction. Now I can look to see if I can source the wood I want to make baseboards and window trim. I'm hoping to find yellow pine, but it's not easy to find around here. If I can't get it I'll have to make do with white pine. White pine is nice enough but I really like the grain pattern in yellow pine.

In unrelated news I made more sawdust with my lathe. Today I tried to make a cylindrical box but the first scrap offcut had a fault in it that meant by the time I turned it to something even it was too thin to be useful, and the second piece got so far and the lid split. But I got some practise turning, drilling, scraping etc even if the end result was little more than firewood.

Planning trip to Utah and on to Montana soon.

Still have stuff waiting to get hauled home to the Bay Area.

Try to get what I can loaded and give away the rest.

Attend board meeting in Utah so senior members need not travel.

Will update periodically.

Trying to turn eggs on the lathe. It's tricky to get the shape right and the finish right. So far I've made nine of them, most of which are a bit wonky and/or have uneven surfaces. The most recent one is mostly egg-shaped and mostly a good finish. I wonder if I can turn them out consistently. I'll need to rip another piece off my scrap board to make any more.

I suspect many of the eggs will end up painted a variety of garish colors by my young granddaughters, who are unlikely to care that the shapes are a bit off. And when my daughter gets sick of brightly colored eggs showing up in random places some or all of them will eventually find their way to either the fire or the thrift shop.

Admitted you have a problem is the first step.

Last night I went to our drama ministries improv class night. We've been on hiatus for a while and it is good to get going again.  While there our director told me he has a part for me in our upcoming Lent/Easter production(s).  Will find out tonight what it is.  Unfortunately it will make bell choir rehearsal a bit difficult, there is some overlap in rehearsals.  I'm going to have to duck out of bells early and dash over to drama practice.  The real difficulty may come on Easter Sunday if both are preforming.
May God bless you as you seek to do God's will

Spent several hours and numerous phone calls yesterday trying to straighten out a SNAFU created by my insurance company.  Friday I went to my optometrist and he discovered a problem and referred me to a specialist.  It was one I knew and used to go to.  I waited till yesterday for them to call.  They hadn't so I went to them to make an appointment.  They told me they didn't take my insurance.  I remembered later that was why I wasn't still go to them.  I went home and called another of the specialists that were on the referral sheet.  They took my insurance but couldn't take me because my insurance company had me assigned to a different specialist, assigned without consulting me, or my Dr.  I called that specialist, whom I have used before, but they don't take my insurance.  After many calls to my insurance company and various specialists I finally discovered the 3 specialists in my area, and one of.them had someone that answered the phone that understood my problem, what I was going through,.and told me what to do to solve it.  I called my insurance company back and, hopefully, solved the problem.  At least it sounds like it is from what the lady I was talking to said.  She said it would take around 14 business days to make the change.  I asked her to try and put a rush on it.  She said she would put a note to that effect in the file.  BTW, did someone pray for patience for me because when you pray for patience you get tribulation. ;D. Ok rant over!
May God bless you as you seek to do God's will

I now have enough wooden eggs that you'd be forgiven for thinking there's a wooden hen hiding somewhere. Many of them look more like acorns than eggs, but I'm getting there.

I had hoped to source some yellow pine for my new baseboards but the only supplier I can find who can get hold of it got back to me today with prices and.... well, no. I don't feel like dropping several hundred dollars per room for baseboards and door trim. So now it's a question of whether I'm going to go with white pine or red oak. I can hardly believe that red oak is significantly cheaper than yellow pine, but there we are. White pine is cheaper still but doesn't have anything like the grain pattern.

Our drama team had a first read through of our Easter production.  Which will actually be preformed on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday even though it is actually portraying the resurrection.  We are following the women on their way Sunday morning to annoint Christ's body.  I picked up a small part.  The production ends with story tellers telling of miracles preformed after the resurrection, including in modern times.  I'm one of the storytellers.  I read through one story.  I may end up with more.

On another side I got a surprise yesterday.  Lately while I am driving I have been listening to music I have saved to a flash drive that is plugged into my car radio.  What was playing yesterday was relaxing piano music.  Suddenly, when the song that was playing ended Queen began playing.  I do have Queen on the flash drive, and enjoy it from time to time.  It was just a shock to go.from relaxing piano music to a driving rock beat.

Yesterday while I was out and about I saw a cute bumper sticker.  It read Caution driver singing.  it really tickled me because I was singing at the time.

I found a large number of wooden eggs in my slippers.

Yes, really. There is a reason for this situation. My daughter visited with our two youngest granddaughters and they took great delight in the collection of wooden eggs, much as we expected. They decided to hide the wooden eggs for each other, and before they left they decided to hide a load of them in my slippers. I had told my daughter she could take the eggs for the girls to play with, as I plan to turn some more as I practise the technique. She forgot to take them.

Now I need to figure out where the last few of the wooden eggs ended up. I'm sure the girls hid them somewhere, but right now I have no idea where they might be.

This afternoon I may attempt turning a bowl out of a log. Much sawdust will be produced and, with any luck, something at least vaguely resembling a bowl will emerge from the sawdust. There is a chance that the end result will be a pile of sawdust and nothing salvagable as a bowl, but we'll see.

Sounds like you're ready for Easter.  :)
