I've been watching old British "let's leave the big city and move to the country" DIY videos from the early 2000's...

These people are crazy.  No money.  No planning.  No skills.  Just "Let's buy a piece of crap collapsed 200 year old barn in Ireland or Scotland or Wales, quit our jobs, , buy an old beat up caravan to live in in three feet of mud and hope it all turns out OK and we don't starve."

Geez.
Based on the regular status reports, this kind of sounds like tango.

I was trying to be both kind and discrete  (aka "out of character")

Sounds like what I did with my house project, except without the three feet of mud....

I started ripping stuff apart without really knowing what I was going to find. Along the way learned about plumbing, differences between electrical wiring in different countries, repairing concrete block walls, a load of carpentry, novel ways of lifting heavy sheeting material over my head when trying to hold it so it didn't even move by 1/4", a few techniques to make tedious jobs less tedious, and a few new expletives. I also acquired a lot of new tools and a sense of balance when straddling two ladders, propping ladders on temporary floors, or walking over joists with no flooring that makes my wife worry even when she can't see what I'm doing.

So far no mud, but the roof over the garage has a leak so it might not be too far off.

If we're going to pick and choose which parts of the Bible we follow, we should be honest enough to admit we are following Crowley and not Christ.

A few days ago I got sick of water dripping through a light fitting in a breezeway when it rains hard. The electrics are safe enough but the water is supposed to stay on the outside.

So I set to cutting some boards that I could use to support a drip tray while I figure the best way to patch the offending roof. It meant climbing into a constricted crawlspace where the metal roof was around 150 degrees in places, but thankfully I could be in and out very fast. Today we had a storm and torrential rain, with no rain dripping through the light or anywhere else. I haven't yet checked the drip trays but I suspect they have some water in them. Assuming they do, I have a good idea where the leak is so just need to figure whether I can caulk it from the inside.

The long term plan is to replace the entire roof so I don't want to spend any meaningful time or money on it now, but I would prefer the designated cubicles to be the only places you can take a shower.

And with relocation imminent and another phase of longtime
ministry being established (pastorship), signing off from forums and interactive media to pursue associated publishing, tract creation etc.

EDIT: Providentially diverted from the intense COVID19 scourge in the city, it's back to work.

So long. Be blessed!

Couple years ago we were in California in late March. Kids and I jumped in the ocean around Newport Beach while my wife watched on. Some people came by and talked with her essentially saying "You're not from around here, are you?"
