Recently, I’ve found myself becoming curious and starting to explore the Bible—a book I had heard about before but never truly understood. What intrigues me is not just its content, but also why it has had such a profound influence on billions of people around the world. Some believe it is the word of God given to humanity, while others approach it as a historical and philosophical text.

The more I read, the more I realize that the Bible is not simply a religious book, but more like a journey of discovery—about faith, morality, and how people face life. There are passages that are easy to understand, but there are also parts that make me pause and reflect deeply. Perhaps what makes it truly interesting is not finding a right or wrong answer, but the process of asking questions and personally experiencing what it has to offer.

For many of us the fascinating part has been learning about the true Author and of His love for us

I'll second what the good Rabbi said, the underlying story is about the author of the book and how much he loves us all.

If you read the Bible through the eyes of a Christian it screams of God's love for us.

If you read the Bible through the eyes of a non-Christian is still paints a remarkably enlightened picture of life, given how long ago it was written. The dietary requirements laid down by Moses show a remarkable insight into what foods would be safe and unsafe to eat, given the lack of refrigeration at the time. Some of the basic moral codes laid down (specifically relating to adultery and fornication) would address the epidemic of broken homes today, and children growing up either alternating between parents or not even knowing who their father is. And just think how much better society would be if more people followed the very simple call to "love God, love each other". And that's before even considering the question of whether this man Jesus was God incarnate or "just a good teacher", or why he died a horrible death on a cross despite his trial finding no fault in him.

When I considered the Bible as a non-Christian one thing that stood out to me was the basic framework of the Ten Commandments. I generally don't talk politics in detail because it tends to generate more heat than light but essentially my leanings are libertarian, and the Ten Commandments seem like a pretty solid framework for a society that doesn't need pages and pages of regulations relating to the sale of cabbage but does need a basic structure to protect the fabric of society to avoid things like murder.
If you love me, obey my commandments - Jesus
Do what thou will shall be the whole of the law - Aleister Crowley

If we're going to pick and choose which parts of the Bible we follow, we should be honest enough to admit we are following Crowley and not Christ.

Of course, as a revelation, the Bible identifiies the true human condition as separation from God while unveiling a merciful plan of salvation for all who will come to Him by faith in the Savior, who is Christ.  Truly good news!

Jews still live these laws. And I agree, it's amazing that such a set of laws was given so long ago and still contributes to a moral society and leading a meaningful life. How could they be anything but divine in origin?
Return to us, O Lord, that we may return to You. Renew our days as of old. -Lamentations 5:21

Yep, the 10 commandments form a perfect structural model for human behavior -- the first 4 relating to our relationship with God, while the final 6 relate to our interaction with each other. And yes, standing the test of time after thousands of years does indeed speak of its divine origin.
Standing before the Judgment Throne we will retain only two things from this life: what God gave us, and what we accomplished with it.
