Prayer for the IDF
« on: May 16, 2021, 03:13:22 PM »
The land of Israel is undergoing some difficult challenges right now. Any prayers for the IDF would be appreciated. The standard Jewish one follows-

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Forces, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God, from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan river valley, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May the Almighty cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighters from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under our soldiers’ sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is the Lord your God, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

And let us say, Amen.

I pray for the Jewish people to come to the knowledge that the Messiah has already defeated their enemies.

Surely this will come as a surprise to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian Mullahs, Neo-Nazis and white supremacists, who all seem alive and kicking.

They do seem alive, but the Messiah said,

Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. Mt.8:22

Hopefully, you won't be surprised when the Messiah returns and shows how his people were unharmed by evildoers.

So they haven't been defeated yet, hmm? Hence we pray for the IDF's success. As indeed we should pray for the valiant warriors that defend the United States. The following is a Jewish prayer for this purpose-

Almighty God on High, omnipotent King, look down from Your Sanctified Abode, and bless the valiant soldiers of the United States who risk their lives to protect the welfare of all Your creation.
Benevolent God, be their shelter and fortress, and to not allow them to falter. May harmony dwell in their ranks, victory in their battalion. Fill their hearts with faith and courage to thwart the evil schemes of our enemies and to abolish every rule of evil.

Protect them on land, in the air and in the sea, and destroy their adversaries. Guide them in peace, lead them toward peace, and return them speedily to their families alive and unharmed.

Grant us true peace in fulfillment of the prophecy: “Nation shall not lift up sword against another nation, nor shall they learn war any more.”

Let all the inhabitants of the world know that Dominion is Yours, and Your name inspires awe upon all that You have created. May this be Your will, and let us say, Amen.

So... anyone who gets harmed by a bad person isn't one of God's people?

You're not paying attention to what the Messiah said.

Hence we pray for the IDF's success. As indeed we should pray for the valiant warriors that defend the United States.
Victory over evil is won by faith in Jesus, by following him, not by human strength or weapons.

So... anyone who gets harmed by a bad person isn't one of God's people?
No. The evil organizations you mentioned are unabe to take the life of any follower of the Lord,

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. Lk.12:4

This couldn't just be about, you know, praying to God for success in battle?

I mean, Deuteronomy 20:3 (which by the way IDF chaplains read to the troops before battle)

"Hear, O Israel, today you are approaching the battle against your enemies. Let your hearts not be faint; you shall not be afraid, and you shall not be alarmed, and you shall not be terrified because of them. For the Lord, your God, is the One Who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you."

Success in battle is by trusting the Messiah,

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Lk.10:19

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Eph.6:14-17

Deuteronomy 20 says God.
Yes, well, God sent his King, so we should listen to him.
