Incorrect.  God is always a HE, a singular.   Anything other than that is polytheism.

I understood Cloudwalker as answering "YES! (God is referred to as He and also transcends our limited notions of gender)".

"They" and "them" can be singular, too. That is, neither term is always plural such that the mere use of either entails polytheism de facto -- "Someone left their phone here. Do you think they'll come back for it?"

RK's question is still open, which is what you're speaking to. I'd wonder if the OP is asking if God is definitively "He" as we understand the word, or if God is ultimately beyond our human concept, i.e. God is referred to as "He", but also with feminine imagery (e.g. Isaiah 49, 66). But, the OP hasn't come back.

My understanding is this.
The word GOD is the housing of The Father,  The Ruach Ha Kodesh and The Messiah.
A minister once from the pulpit had a banana in his hands to explain his understanding of how God can be described.
One unit .... when you remove the peel ... the banana's flesh can be dividend into three equal pieces when  gently squished.
All equal and the same substance,  yet different in function... together it forms a whole unit. ALL in ONE.

But most importantly to me... GOD is the Lover of my soul.

The minister in question has engaged in Partialism, not Trinitarianism. Or a kind of Modalism, or maybe probably both to certain degrees.

My answer is that language fails us in thinking about the mysterious God of the Bible, especially as he is revealed in the Gospel of John, who clearly pictures with Jesus' words the three Persons of God. The rest of the Bible assumes that God is one God in contrast to the multiple gods of the nations around Israel, as follows:

Deu 6:4  “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 
Deu 6:5  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 
Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God. 
Joh 1:3  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 
Joh 1:4  In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 

The Bible uses the pronouns "he" and "him" for God. As a result, I do too.
