PEACE

Our God is a God of Peace.  He has promised us peace.  In John 14:27 Christ promises "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives".  But look around.  Do you see peace?

The Middle East is in conflict.  Northern Ireland has trouble.  Russia and the Ukraine are at war.  And here in the United States we have frequent reports of mass shootings.  And in the midst of the Presidential election campaign someone tried to assassinate one of the candidates.

No the world is NOT  at peace.  Far from it.  But Jesus said "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Christ brings peace because Christ is the Prince of Peace.  Even in the midst of all the turmoil of this modern world if we have Christ we have peace.

Today we light the this candle as a light of peace that we may always be reminded of the peace that Christ brings.
