I often talk with conflicted tech workers in this tech capitol who are concerned about the push for unregulated AI.

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."

Appears significant days could be on the near-horizon. IMO.

A while  back I bought a medical alert pendant and I have been wearing it most of the time.  It is one of those things that I didn’t really need but if you wait until you actually need it it will probably be to late.  But Monday I was glad I had it.  Our church drama ministry has an improve class on Monday evening.  As I was going into the house I had a number of things in my arms and I dropped some of them.  As I was bent over trying to pick them up I fell.  I wasn't really hurt, a small sore spot on my butt.  But my pendant, which detects falls, went off.  Rather than stopping the alert I let it go through.  I knew I didn't need any medical aid.  But I wasn‘t sure I wouldn't need assistance in getting up.  Something I am having difficulty doing.  So I let the call go through and explained the situation to the person on the other end of the call and asked him to stay on the line in case I did need some help getting up.  He did and I talked to him as I managed to struggle to my feet.  I didn’t end up needing help, but it was comforting to know it was standing by if I needed it.  All in all, all I ended up with is a sore spot on my butt.
May God bless you as you seek to do God's will

I turned another bowl this afternoon. I started it several days ago but a misjudgement caused my finger to have a disagreement with a spinning piece of wood, which didn't end well. My finger is still wrapped up but working the lathe is back on the table. My wife and I are taking a load of bowls to a local craft fair at the weekend, hopefully I can shift a few of them, free up some space and help pay for my new passion

I managed to sell 10 of my bowls, and a couple of other wooden things I made. I wasn't sure what pricing the local market would support so I took a best guess. My wife thought my prices were too high but after seeing what sold I think there's scope to edge some of them up bit higher. The bowls with the highest price tags on them sold to people who didn't bat an eyelid at the prices.

The next fair is a bit more artisan so I'll need to make some more bowls, and nudge the prices up a little too.

I got a couple more bowls turned today. One from redbud, which I absolutely love, I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it or keep it for myself.

Then I turned a bowl from sycamore. I wasn't thrilled about sycamore before but having turned this really thin using my new bowl gouge I really like it. Not enough to keep it, but enough to work with the rest of the sycamore I have on hand.

Just got back from 'Other Mommy'. Eh... 6 / 10 ? Had the potential to be a lot better.

Visiting our daughter in Ontario for a few days. Out for dinner tonight, then back to the West Coast for a couple days before heading home.

Edit:
Oh and Happy Thanksgiving to any and all Canadians.

I went to a fair at a nearby state park with my wife over the weekend. Among the demonstrators were a few people from my wood turning group. The president of the group made a snowman tree ornament for me, which was an interesting design. I've made loads of regular snowmen but kinda liked the one he made. He wanted to see if I could copy it, so I took it home with me. Later that afternoon I turned one of my style of snowmen. He seemed surprised when I said the only tool I needed was a skew, and later said he thought my skew technique was good.

This afternoon I was working on making copies of his snowman. Most of it is easy enough but there's a thin section at the bottom that's tricky to do with a wide skew. I need to sharpen my spindle gouge to be able to do that, or accept some limitations and use a narrower skew. It's curious turning with a tailstock because it means I can crank the speed much higher and make more aggressive cuts knowing my workpiece isn't going to spring out of the jaws of the chuck and become a missile.

Making more sawdust today. I figured out an easier way to make the new snowman design, and turned out four of them. Then I turned a load of regular snowmen. There would have been a fifth new snowman but I got a nasty skew catch and broke a piece off, so I'm not sure if it's salvageable. I now have a growing box of snowmen of varying designs.

One snowman blank turned out to have a punky section near the chuck end, so I turned a smaller snowman to avoid the punky bit. When I sent a picture of the range of snowmen to my daughter her response was "that little one is so adorable". Take a wild guess what she might be getting for Christmas.....

I think they now call that an "other abled" snowman...
Danger, Will Robinson.  You will be assimilated, confiscated, folded, mutilated, and spindled. Do not pass go.  Turn right on red. Third star to the right and full speed 'til morning.

A bit more sawdust made yesterday. I had a bunch of blanks and decided to turn out some more snowmen. I have an army of them now, I probably won't sell this many but I kinda like making them.

Collected my wife's car from the dealership, it needed some work to pass its inspection and the bill was a bit uglier than I'd hoped. Still, cheaper than buying a new car.

Then I turned a couple more bowls, a large one from black cherry and a smaller one from sycamore.
