The Dr's appointments are piling up.  I have a podiatrist appointment tomorrow (4/21/2026).  An appointment with an audioligist on 4/25/2026 and another appointment with my retonoligist on 4/30/2026.

May God bless you as you seek to do God's will

Seems like the older one becomes, the fewer friends one has and the more time spent with people wearing white coats and scrubs.

Danger, Will Robinson.  You will be assimilated, confiscated, folded, mutilated, and spindled. Do not pass go.  Turn right on red. Third star to the right and full speed 'til morning.

I see enough of those.

I should really have spent some time making windowsills today but wanted to play with the lathe a little, so turned another bowl out of another chunk of sycamore. My wife really likes this one. I kinda like it too. My daughter's response was "wow, it's beautiful".

Who knew that you would take up bowling at your age…

I should probably spend some time making windowsills this morning before my wife wants to run the vacuum cleaner. I'll be cutting a big chunk of oak into smaller lengths, then cutting corners out of it to fit into the window bay, then probably making some fine adjustments to make it fit more cleanly, then running a router over the edges to make it look pretty. All in all it makes quite a bit of sawdust. Most of it stays more or less where it was created, although some of it manages to attach itself to me and journey throughout the house. I try and minimize that, to avoid unnecessary annoyance for my wife.

The appointment with the podiatrist went well.  First they took some x-rays.  Then the doctor came in.  He confirmed that, as I suspected, I have several hammer toes.  I also have a bunion and diabetic neuropathy in my toes.  However, none of that is bothering me, and certainly not hurting.  So, as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."  I'll check in with him in a year, unless something happens in the interim.  And if it does, at least I already have a relationship with him.

I got three windowsills made, then went to one of my local lumber yards to get some wood to make trim for the space around the window. It's sitting upstairs, I didn't cut it to size because I didn't want to liberally distribute sawdust throughout the house. I did get my wife to help haul my miter saw up into the workspace so I can cut it without having to keep going up and down the stairs. I'll just need the big saw removed before my young granddaughters can be playing in the room again.

At a push I could just kill the breaker to the room, I just don't want to find they invented an unforeseen way to hurt themselves on a big saw even without any power.

Fun making dad glitter....

The pieces that fit around the window are now cut to length and fit together pretty well. I'm going to need to make a couple of adjustments to the window sills because a couple of things aren't quite level, and I'm not sure how to fix it without finding my pieces of wood are a tiny fraction too short. Now I need to cut everything to width so it doesn't protrude from the window bays, then I can get busy sanding and staining it.

Listening to the overnight roar of the Pacific ocean, which I enjoy when I can.

The contrast between that timeless essence and the relative noise of humanity is strikingly healing.
