A look at 2 Timothy 3:16. The Value of God’s Perfect Word

2 Timothy 3:16.  The Value of God’s Word

All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin , correcting faults  and training in right living. Thus anyone who belongs to God May be fully equipped for every good work

So. What is this saying?

Sound Doctrine:   Our creator God is from eternity past, present, and eternity future. He made man and woman is His perfect image (tzelem) “shadow” Adam and Eve walked  as God’s perfect”shadow” until they disobeyed and sinned. Thus bringing sin into this world.  However, God wanted a restored relationship with man. So. The Second Adam paid the price of sin of the First Adam. And we all know who the second Adam is   We are “renewed” into relationship through the new birth. (John 3:3)

2. Reproof/convicting of sins

The Bible teaches us our wrong doings through the commandments.  They act as a “school teacher” showing us what is right and what is wrong. Holy vs unholy. Clean vs unclean. They lead us to a righteous lifestyle and walk in faith

3. Train in right living (righteous living)

When we turn from our sins. And follow God’s commandments. We begin living a righteous life through obedience. That comes from our righteous salvation. Salvation is a one-time event. While righteous living is a lifelong action.  We are saved unto obedience and good works.

The author of 2 Timothy speaks of scripture. You then speak of the Bible.

Where does the author of 2 Timothy say that when he uses the word 'scripture' he means the Bible?

This is a banned user attempting to evade a ban, as ProDeo rightly suspected. Banned, again.

The Scriptures are the usual designation for books written under the inspiration of God in the New Testament. For example, in Matthew 4:10, Christ's words are quoted to Satan: "Then saith Jesus until him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." At the same time, Jesus did not say that he was quoting the book of Deuteronomy. Moreover, the devil, seducing Jesus, did the same. He just said "it's written," not saying which book he was quoting from. Here is another example: "
Jesus saith until them, Did ye never read in the scripts, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; This was from the Lord, And is it marvelous in our eyes?" (Matthew 21:42). Here Jesus quotes Psalm 117:22-23.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Ti 3:16–17.

Traditional Dating (assuming Pauline authorship): A.D. 64-67, during Paul's second Roman imprisonment and shortly before his death.

When Saul wrote his second letter to Timothy the reference to "All Scripture" refers to the Hebrew Scripture of the Law (Pentateuch, five "books" of Moses), the Psalms, and the Prophets. these 39 "books" of the Bible are the Old Testament writings as described above.

Once a person becomes born-again - and this usually refers to Jews who are born-again by the Holy Spirit of Promise PROMISED TO ISRAEL - their relationship with the God of Abraham takes on a new dynamic. In this spiritual new birth natural Olive tree Israel becomes spiritual Olive tree Israel, and the person becomes a new spiritual being. Their relationship to the Law of Moses deepens and several things happen.

1. God creates a new human spirit in the person, and they are restored into the trichotomy (three-part) image of God: body, soul, and human spirit.

2. The Holy Spirit is the agent of this change and now dwells in the life of the believer.

3. God declares the person, "Not Guilty!" of transgressing His Law called "justification." This is a one-time event.

4. The Holy Spirit now dwelling within the person begins a process of sanctification whose purpose is to daily conform the person into the image of Christ. This is an inward conformity in which through repentance (Greek: metanoia - changing one's mind) a person's 'spirit' or attitude undergoes a change in which sin and the things the person used to obey (ex. fornication, drugs, smoking, evil thoughts, cursing, etc.), no longer please the person and these things are replaced with right-living according to the measure of their faith in accordance with the Word of God. They go to church, read their Bible, and participate in events and people of like mind (Christians.) As this person learns Scripture their life's activities change because their minds change towards the things of God.

Although the Old Testament Scripture teaches that no one can become righteous merely through outwardly making every attempt to obey God's Laws, the Law now serves as the vehicle through which they learn God's Laws, and these instruct the person to right living (righteousness.)

Because the New Testament writings were not used in the way they are today, letters by Saul, Peter, James, John, etc., would eventually in the 4th century be gathered and added to the Old Testament canon by Gentiles, they are not yet seen or accepted as "Bible." What the New Covenant (New Testament) writings are is the discussion and explanation to Jews and Jewish Christians through letters about the New Covenant era Israel found herself in overnight since Pentecost. By reading and studying the Hebrew Scripture of Law, Psalms, and the Prophets, certain persons wrote letters explaining these Acts of the Holy Spirit taking place daily among the Jews were prophesied and written about in the Old Testament and while under the anointing they searched the Old Testament Scripture which described the New Covenant within its pages. Saul, a rabbi and Pharisee met Jesus on the road to Damascus and who knew the Old Testament studied the OT and God used him to bring out from the OT those things the Holy Spirit was doing among the Jews and what certain doctrines now began to be understood in the light of Scripture.

Peter accept Paul’s writings as Scripture

Truly incredible how "all Scripture" isn't meant to mean "all Scripture" but "just the Scripture Paul was aware of".

Or like, "all" can mean "all" regardless of Paul's immediate context, so it would naturally follow that all Scripture refers necessarily to all Scripture, regardless of Paul's particular awarenesses.

"All Scripture" refers to the oracles of God in possession of the Hebrew people and these are Genesis to Malachi which are the Law, Psalms, and the Prophets.

No, you are.
If you can't distinguish between the prophets and their prophecies and Saul's letters, or Peter's, then the error is yours.
Letters don't compare with the prophets of Israel.
Even Saul understood he was not writing prophecies like the prophets. Letters are just letters. I write letters. Do I include them alongside the prophets of Israel?
Nope. Not even.

Gues what? I write scripture, too. But I've already made my point and do not want to repeat myself.

As others indicated...2 Pet 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Paul received a revelation that was hidden to OT prophets. He received a revelation directly from Jesus Christ. The revelation was so intense that God had to send him a thorn in the flesh to keep him humble. As has already been said...you are promoting heresy.
Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
