One day on I-94

A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible off the dealership lot. Taking off down the road, he enjoyed feeling the wind in what little gray hair he had left. Taking I-94, he hit the accelerator, reaching 60 in a few seconds, then floored it. He was zooming along feeling exhilarated, when suddenly, in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing. "Oh well", he thought, and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival.

Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, surprised to see an elderly gentleman behind the wheel. Looking at his watch, he said, "Sir, today is Friday, my shift ends in 30 minutes, and I wouldn't mind avoiding the extra paperwork. If you can give me a reason for speeding I've never heard before, I'll let you go with a warning."

The old guy thought for a few moments and said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a state trooper. I thought it was you, bringing her back."

The trooper chuckled and said, "Have a good day, sir."
