Food for thought...for a hungry mind
« on: February 21, 2023, 04:22:19 PM »
As recorded in Genesis 11, in the era following the Great Flood, the early descendants of Noah multiplied and slowly migrated eastward, mostly settling in the fertile valley between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, known as Babylonia. It was here that established communities first began to organize and develop into cities. It was also in this area that the ill-fated tower of babel was begun but never completed. Although information regarding the events related to it are scant, we can still garner both tremendous knowledge and a profound epiphany by what we are told.

We read in the Genesis account that the people resolved to unite as one people, and initiated a great construction project as a collaborative effort that would serve as a proud monument to their unity and solidarity. It’s been suggested that the true intent of the massive tower was to provide a refuge for the people should God ever send another flood. If that’s true, we see a defiance against God, as well as the decision to gather in one place, rather than spread out as God had earlier commanded.

Unity is a good thing when it serves a benevolent purpose. However, when camaraderie represents a concerted enmity and rebellion against God and His will, it is detrimental. Knowing that the advance of science and technology in the hands of the ungodly would be catastrophic and accelerate events too quickly, God nipped things in the bud by eliminating man’s ability to freely communicate. By dividing the common speech into many, tribes of people gathered together according to their language, and dispersed from the area, eventually forming widespread, separate and distinct nations as God had intended.

The level of technological advancement that currently exists was made possible by the collaboration of scientists and thinkers from all over the world. Technology is built layer upon layer upon the discoveries, ideas, and inventions that came before. And the sharing of all of those is dependent on communication - possible only when the language barrier is not a hindrance. Clearly, the Lord preempted the development of technological achievement by confusing the languages at the tower of babel.

The internet, television, computers, cell phones, aeronautics and space travel, and all other devices that make the world modern are all made from materials that were here before man was. The only thing that prevented them from existing thousands of years ago was the knowledge necessary to design and build them. Modern automatic weapons, supersonic aircraft, and laser-guided missiles could have been used in ancient wars instead of primitive swords and battleaxes.

Ernest Rutherford’s experiments proposed the first atomic model in 1911, Enrico Fermi achieved the first controlled nuclear reaction in 1942, and two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan just 3 years later. Had that speedy progression of events occurred thousands of years ago, where would we be now? The threat of a global nuclear holocaust posed by nuke-armed developed nations at odds with one another could have taken place millennia ago, plunging our world into the dismal apocalypse often depicted in science fiction movies.

Man has free will, but the misguided, often catastrophic actions resulting from his inept attempt at self-governance is, thankfully, mitigated by the omniscient, omnipotent Almighty God. The destiny of this world and everyone in it was ordained long ago by God, and nothing man or the Devil can do will thwart or circumvent that which is in accordance with His divine will and purpose. And for that, we should all be truly grateful.
Standing before the Judgment Throne we will retain only two things from this life: what God gave us, and what we accomplished with it.

Sojourner:  "We read in the Genesis account that the people resolved to unite as one people, and initiated a great construction project as a collaborative effort that would serve as a proud monument to their unity and solidarity. It’s been suggested that the true intent of the massive tower was to provide a refuge for the people should God ever send another flood. If that’s true, we see a defiance against God, as well as the decision to gather in one place, rather than spread out as God had earlier commanded."

First begin reading in Genesis 9, God establishes a covenant with Noah, and with the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, Japheth, and with all living creature of all flesh, and God set His bow in the cloud, to be for a token between God and the earth, ( God and the earth are then joined by the peace rainbow from Heaven to earth, in the time of rain.) and when God brings a cloud over the earth, that then a bow shall be seen in the cloud, and God will remember His covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth, and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. ( God told Noah, this is the token of the covenant which He has established between Him and all flesh that is upon the earth.)

Genesis 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Next, turn to Genesis 10. Here we see the future generations that God is making of the sons of Noah, Shem Ham Japheth.

Specifically this is highlighted as Nimrod the mighty one in the earth, and the beginning oi his kingdom was Babel. ( Babel was going to be mighty because of the mighty one who had that kingdom.)

Asshur ( the son of Elam, the son of Shem.) went forth from those lands, and built Nineveh. ( great cities known in the bible.)

Mizaim, the son of Cush, the son of Ham, begat Ludim. ( out of that line came Philistin/ the Philistines.)

Canaan, the son of Cush, the son of Ham, begat Sidon, and afterwards the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. ( the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you come to Gerar, unto Gaza, as you go to Sodom and Gomorrah.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. ( we have all the testimonies of the scriptures because God showed the generations that would be, when he scattered them.)

Genesis 10:8 And Cush ( the son of Ham.) begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.
10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Genesis 10:11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,
12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.

Genesis 10:13 And Mizraim ( son of Cush, son of Ham.) begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,
14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

Genesis 10:15 And Canaan ( the son of Cush, the son of Ham.) begat Sidon his first born, and Heth,
16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,
17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.
19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

Genesis 10:20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

Genesis 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Genesis 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

The sons of Japheth, Gomer and Magog, Madai, Javan and Tubal, and Meshech.

Prophecy comes against Gog, and the Lord God said behold, He is against Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. ( all families were scattered, the Philistines against Israel, Nineveh and Babylon against Israel, and Meshech was the land of Turkey, against Israel.)

Turkey/Islam took over Israel, but a fire from the Lord on Magog, caused them to fail, and Israel has the Holy name of the Lord known in the middle of the people of Israel, and God said behold, it is come, and it is done, this is the day where the Lord God had spoke of. ( the heathen also know He is the Lord, the Hoy one in Israel, when the Lord brought back Israel, 1947, and they no longer polluted His name among the heathen where they were scattered.)

Israel gathered out of their enemies lands, ( the world knows this occurred officially with the  UN voting to officially recognize Israel in 1947.) to sanctify the Lord in the sight of many nations.

Then Israel knows He is the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen, but He gathered them into their own land, and left none of them there any more. ( neither does the Lord hide His face any more from them, for God poured out His Spirit upon the house of Israel, says the Lord.)

Then satan is let out of his prison, and goes out to deceive the nations, which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

They go out on the breath of the earth, they compass the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. ( remember Ezekiel  39:6, God sends a fire on Magog, and they shall know He is the Lord, for the Lord to make His Holy name known among Israel, when the people of Israel is gathered back to their own land, in 1947.)

Genesis 10:2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

Ezekiel 39:1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

Ezekiel 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
28 Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

The testimony of God ( the Holy Scriptures.) are what saves us from the death that has occurred since Adam and Eve, ( that is why we have the scriptures confirming, everybody has died, that ever lived, since the beginning of us all.)

God also has testified of one way only to never die, because He Himself is life, ( that is why men's words and testimonies, are not life.) and God revealed to us to be able to believe that He is life, by coming in the flesh to this world, to save us from the death of the sins we die in, by believing in the righteousness of Christ instead, without sin so that death could not hold Him, and for us to rise up to that same life with Him, in His same faith and same love.

Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

It's like trying to understand a lecture on astrophysics in Swahili when I don't understand either.

Ezekiel 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;

I don't see any relationship with the point Sojourner was making.

God is fair, and tells the story of the people of Babel, even though they were long since dead. ( if God does not testify for the dead, they have no testimony.)

Then it does not really matter what the people of Babel imagined to do, they were dead while they lived.

Also God declares the end from the beginning, and the purpose of the scriptures given at the time of the tower of Babel, are only to show what would be after, ( God does all His pleasure, and any other focus is men's vanity.) because we read it as a historical account, afterwards, while God is alive ( for ever.) and while the men of Babel are long since dead.

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

It's like trying to understand a lecture on astrophysics in Swahili when I don't understand either.

A testimony of the scriptures, compared to astrophysics.

No wonder Christ testified what comes out of the mouth from man ( from the heart.)...

Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Jesus wept.

And so do I.

I have no idea what this means. Why does anyone need testimony? The bible doesn't tell the story of Babel for their benefit, but for ours.
