If Jesus doesn’t know the day or hour, how is it any of my concern?

I am to look for Jesus, nor for some sign or timetable or eschatological fever dream.

The Word is crystal clear on that issue.

It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ and more with prophecy, He is telling you the when and how and even why, so it is something Christians would seek..

Horse pellets

The revelation is of the glory and majesty and superior of Jesus

It is decidedly NOT the revelation of the end of time

How can Jesus tell you then when when He doesn’t know?

Where does He go after He is resurrected, the scripture is clear.

John 20:17
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

When you are going to see a time such as never was since the beginning of the world, its nice to see the timeline and know its Gods allowing it as He prepares to come and take His saints to heaven.

Daniel 12:1
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Revelation 15:1
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:15
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Why not just trust God instead of trying to second guess Him?

He reveals His hand to His followers, no need to 'second guess'.

Of course you're trying to second guess. The timing and details of what you're discussing is very vague. You have a preconceived notion of what the end looks like, and you're trying to shoehorn your own ideas onto the worlds of the prophets. I'm just trying to be content and trust God.

I didn't find Daniel particularly difficult. Once you know the history of these empires Daniel's prophecy was a breathe of fresh air. Many of the details align with the history of each empire. The exact date that Daniel was told about is one of the most amazing apologetic prophecies of all. There is no human explanation for how Daniel's prophecy brings the end of the 483 years on Monday of the week Jesus is crucified. He was killed on April 3 33 AD and this date has been confirmed by many liberals.

It helps to pick a starting date that agrees with your already decided upon ending date.

Unfortunately it's not even clear that the text is talking about the messiah. The Hebrew simply says "an anointed", as all kings, priests, and prophets were. In book of Isaiah, God calls the gentile king Cyrus "My anointed".

If we read the verse  "And you shall know and understand that from the emergence of the word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem until the anointed king shall be seven weeks, and for sixty-two weeks it will return and be built street and moat, but in troubled times." (Daniel 9) a little differently, then the first "7 weeks" = 49 years from the destruction, that puts us at 534 BCE, which puts us in the "week" that Cyrus conquered Babylon and allowed the Jews to go back to Judea and rebuild the Temple (539 BCE).

The additional "62 weeks" is another 434 years, which puts us around 100BCE, which is the same "week" that the last Jewish king to have sovereignty, Alexander Jannaeus, ascended to the throne in Jerusalem.

So much depends on what starting date you pick.

Do you know where the starting date is recorded in Scripture?

445 B.C.: This view dates the clock to the spring of 445 B.C., when Artaxerxes granted Nehemiah permission to rebuild the walls of the city. This leads to the arrival and crucifixion of the Messiah at the end of the 69 weeks, followed by a gap before the final 7-year period.

To think I picked the date is absurd.

Not quite correct my brother, the starting point identified with the decree by Artaxerxes I was in 458/7 B.C.
https://theos-sphragis.info/artaxerxes_timeline.html

The Ezra and Nehemiah account places this key event in Artaxerxes’ seventh regnal year, which corresponds to 458/457 BC in the Jewish civil calendar reckoning. And yes, it granted Nehemiah permission to rebuild the walls of the city and provided the money to rebuild Jerusalem. Now there where two earlier decrees by Cyrus and Darius’, but these two decrees dont qualify to start the prophecy of Daniel 9:25.

The first is the decree of Cyrus, which was given in his first year (probably 537/536 B.C.) and a decree of Darius (around 520/519 B.C.) which merely reconfirms the decree of Cyrus. However, these first two decrees are merely about the temple, and its reconstruction, whereas the statement in Daniel 9:25 is concerned with the decree that resulted in the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem. These first two decrees can be omitted from consideration, because they deal only with the building of the temple, and not the rebuilding of the city and restoration, "that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times." So we can see that the third decree of Artaxerxes is the one that started the prophecy of Daniel 9 and was implemented in September/October 457 B.C

Now lets go look at the prophecy and break it down...

Daniel 9:24-27
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

One thing that must be understood first is the 'a day for a year' rule established in Ezekiel 4:6.
Ezekiel 4:6
And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

For every day that is mentioned in this and all other biblical prophecies they are equal to a prophetic year. There is virtually no debate about this point in Christian circles and we'll find that the rule holds true in this prophecy.

The Timeframe:
The angel Gabriel starts the prophecy by giving a block of time in verse 24, seventy weeks. Seventy weeks is equal to 490 days, or 490 prophetic years. That is our timeframe for this prophecy from beginning to end.

Verse 25 tells us when this timeframe begins, 'from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem'. When did this occur? See Ezra 7; for this is the command where the rebuilding of Jerusalem was actually accomplished and that command was given by Artaxerxes, king of Persia; which occurred in 457 BC. There were two other kings that made similar commands to rebuild Jerusalem but those proved to not be fruitful.

This is the total 70-week block given by Gabriel in verses 25 & 27:
Block 1: 7 Weeks - (49 years) - Starts in 457 BC

Block 2: 62 Weeks - (434 years) - Starts in 408 BC

Block 3: 1 week - (7 years) - Starts in 27 AD

Let's look closely at the last week/ 7-year block (Block 3); for this is the period of time that many think will be the famous 'Seven-year Tribulation' of the future:

3 ½ Years + 3 ½ Years = 7 years (one week)
This block starts in 27 AD. What happened in this year? Christ was baptized, anointed, and started His public ministry.
The "midst of the week" started in 31 AD (3 ½ years later). What happened in this year? Christ was killed on the cross. (New Covenant confirmed.)
This block ends in 34 AD. What happened in this year? Stephen, the last disciple to the Jews, was stoned by the Sanhedrin and the Gospel went out to the Gentiles.

So we see that this breakdown perfectly follows the prophecy of Daniel 9 and we find that this prophecy was about the coming Messiah (Jesus Christ); history and later books of the Bible verify this.

Why do people want to put this last week of the 70 at the end times? There is no biblical reason to do so and it breaks the block of time Gabriel started the prophecy with. Let's ask some further important questions;
Is the antichrist mentioned anywhere in Daniel 9:24-27? No. The "he" mentioned in verse 27 is Christ, not Antichrist, for Christ is the focus of the whole prophecy.

There is no 'gap'. this is contorted idea to confuse the timeline, the prophecy is a single, unbroken timeline from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the final events tied to Messiah.

LOL. The dates don't quite fit, so you introduce a "gap"?
