'The world' does not and is not going to believe NYC is Babylon.

The Apocalypse is not allegory.
It is written in the apolcalptic genre, which uses many symbols and figurative language, most based on the Old Testament, but it is not a parable or to read like one reads Pilgrim's Progress.
OK. What matters is to interpret truly the Scriptures. Revelation 19:v.17 above says: "And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls..."
The verse above shows an angel speaking with fowls and standing in the sun. How could an angel, standing in the sun, speak to the fowls (speaking to the fowls?) flying so below from him? Literally/materially is impossible to explain this event. Who are these beings? What really the Word of GOD is revealing for us and for our understanding?
the angel is whom we see in rev 19 his red vesture shines upon the moon.... who else speaks to the fowls and they obey And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

in trumpet 5/6 we see evil spirits upon the land up from the earth. in the 5/6 vial wee the same.

Which direction will Russia go, particularly in light of the Gog prophecy?
It's a darn good question. I have a bit unusual perspective, though I got my ideas from others. I think the Beast Empire will be European Civilization uniting East and West, including Russia and the US, and all of Europe. However, until that happens Russia and the US are like the thumbs on left and right hands, and they seek the sphere that enables them to be dominant in the roles they play.
Right now, Russia is decompressing from the fall of the Soviet Union, and trying to establish itself as a major player, having isolated itself during the Cold War. I expect that instead of taking on the entire world, Russia will have to concede a lot in order to become the powerful player it already is.
Russia is still able to rely on partner China to be the rogue operator on the world stage. As long as it has China as an ally, what is to prevent it from being adventurous, particularly since China itself operates freely as a bully on the world stage?
At some point, I think Russia will opt for European relations, instead of its alliance with China. And that becomes more feasible as Europe loses its Christian identity and becomes more socialist. That's a sad state of affairs, and yet the reality, as I see it.
There is this great battle of Gog mentioned in the Bible. The one in Rev 20 appears to be the same player, but at a different time, after the Millennium, or at the end of it. This player is likely Russia, in my view.
So yes, there is this great battle coming to invade Israel. I'm just not sure if it will be with adventurous Russia that we now see, with China's support, or in an alliance with Europe in the Antichristian alliance?

I agree that Greece is the 3rd kingdom, and I think it is so in both Dan 2 and Dan 7.
so then in your view who are the four parts? in dan2/ 7 the 4th kingdom/beast would need to be one of the four then in dan 2/7 who are the others?

Not all of them were destroyed in the flood. The Old Testament refers to the Anakites and other peoples that descended from Nephilim. A common physical characteristic was their greater size and height, hence... the "giants". The Israelites were commanded by God to destroy entire cities.... men, women, children and animals. Why do you think that is?

They're people just like you, your friends, your neighbours, and your family. If you think there's a strong divide, a 'you' vs 'them' mentality, then you aren't being honest with yourself.

A couple of things not said in this thread.
1. The whole idea angels having sex with women producing a new (sort of half) satanic race is so repulsive you want to reject as very first reaction and move on. And yet I think the ancients believed it. Even several ECF's as we can read from their writings. what if the spirit being indwelled humans which then had offspring,,,,,, can a demonic indweling change your dna make up? i belive the animals were also affected scripture does show both animals and humans affected by demonic in dwellings

The standard answer is that there are subsets of each set of 4 kingdoms. The 1st set is just the head. The 2nd set consists of 2 arms. The 3rd set consists of 2 thighs. And the 4th set consists of 2 legs.
I'm skipping all of the other parts just to emphasize the dual nature of some of these kingdoms. Just as a body is symmetrical and bilateral, so are each of these kingdoms.
In the case of the head, you may have two ears and two eyes, and still have just one head. In the case of the upper torso you may have two arms without violating a single upper torso. In the case of the lower torso you may have two thighs without violating a single torso. In the case of the legs, they work together and constitute a bilateral function without violating the idea of a single function, which involves standing, walking, or running.
Dan 2 presents the 4 kingdoms in just this way, as including the various bilateral functions which number more than 4 and yet belong to the 4. Dan 7 confirms that the 2nd kingdom has 2 appendages, just as we see in Dan 2 there are 2 arms. These 2 facets, belonging to the 2nd kingdom, represent Media and Persia.
with your logic then parts of babylon and mp are parts of grecia....... again grecia being the third kingdom dan 2 being broken would void any previous kingdoms being its parts which includes babylon and mp thus the four parts in dan 7 cannot include babylon and mp.

We use a lot of Greek and Latin because early investigation into Science started there. None of this means we are still in the time the Bible refers to as the time of the 4 kingdoms (Dan 2 and 7).

On a previous Bible forum I engaged pretty extensively in this argument. The person I was arguing with felt the same way you do, that Dan 2 has a different list of kingdoms than Dan 7. And the reason given was that the Dan 7 list could *not,* it was thought, include Babylon.
However, I don't know if you wish to go down the various arguments in this line of thinking? I do believe, the list of 4 kingdoms is the same, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. I think there is nothing "immoral" about holding one view or the other. It's just an honest difference of opinion.
