1st Sunday in Advent-Hope

HOPE

The world is waiting.  It has been waiting for so long.  It has been holding its breath and waiting.  Ever since that day in The Garden of Eden.  God promised to redeem His world even back then.  And He has constantly renewed His promise.  Down the years He has given us hints of His plan. 

When He told the serpent "He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel" He was promising a Savior.  When Isiah proclaimed "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" He reaffirmed the promise.  We have hope and so we wait.

Today we light this candle to shine as a light in the darkness.  A beacon to keep hope alive in this world of darkness as we hope for the coming fulfillment of God's promise.
