"Space, the final frontier, these are the voyages of the HMS Nike..."

Ah yes, Nike. "Just do it." An expression probably heard frequently in Chinese in many sweat shops in China. Followed by, "or else."  (Though to be fair, numerous multinationals including Adidas, Apple, and Microsoft are just as guilty of the exploitation).
Standing before the Judgment Throne we will retain only two things from this life: what God gave us, and what we accomplished with it.

Not a reference to that Nike.

The name of the company is derived from a pagan deity, which ties in with the context of the OP, so I ran with it.  ;)

As the story goes, it wasn't a name that was necessarily liked, just one picked under pressure.
Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.

The pagan elements in our culture have no real bearing on anything, but do serve as a reminder of the heathenism of a bygone era. It's interesting that the first manned moon missions were named after the sun god Apollo, while the trips planned for 2024 are to be named for his twin sister, the moon goddess Artemis. In today's politically correct society, some are bemoaning the "misogynistic" snubbing of Artemis the first time around.  ::)

Well, the ancient Greek and Roman deities alluded to in the OP don't quite have the following they had in the era I'm referring to. But yes, there are still pagan belief systems in existence today--whose adherents will come up short on Judgment Day.

God has the final say regarding who will dwell with Him in eternity and who will not.
Standing before the Judgment Throne we will retain only two things from this life: what God gave us, and what we accomplished with it.
