Both the Republican and Democrat parties have been hijacked by radical extremists with opposing agendas, and both are equally out of touch with the average citizen. Choosing between constipation and diarrhea isn't much of a choice.

Ever hear of AIPAC? They are the largest lobbying institution that refuses to register under the foreign agents registration act ( FARA). They financially contribute to 99% of Congress. Republican, Democrat, does not matter. U.S. policices are heavily influenced by another country!

Walter, though this may be the Controversial subforum, I still expect you to maintain decorum. If you have any thoughts that are relevant to the OP, feel free to share them. But if you're referring to a certain book from 1892, you'll find I'm very impatient.

I understand and want to be respectful.Israel, Judaism and the jewish people are perhaps the most controversial things one can discuss without having serious backlash, probably like no other topic in question.
I want to take the correct, Biblical/ historical view as a Christian and share information extremely relevant to the time we live in.
Unfortunately this will offend some, as does the Cross of Christ.
My initial reaction to the post in question was, if you are giving an explanation/sermon  to the non- jewish world about how we can try to sympathize orbe more understanding to your cause, you should also be transparent as to why so many nations and people have had serious problems wihen they established control of those people, as instructed by their religion.

On the heels of another discussion to be found here, I decided to make a topic about what Judaism is in order to dispel some ignorance.

During the recent Yom Kippur holiday, some thoughts occurred to me during the services, and I'm expressing them here.

Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, passed a few weeks ago. What is it all about?

There's a prayer that is recited on the Sabbath and Jewish holidays. It is sung, first by the congregation, and then by the individual leading the service. A few lines of it are the following:

"Be gracious to the nation who unifies your name, twice every day in the morning and the evening, when we recite the Shema prayer with love".

What is the Shema prayer? It's the text in Deuteronomy 6.

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God; the Lord is one.
And these words, which I command you this day, shall be upon your heart. And you shall teach them to your children and speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk on the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for ornaments between your eyes. And you shall inscribe them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates."

So what's Yom Kippur really about?

God is saying that He's giving us a day when the gates of heaven are open to our prayers.

And we're using that day to entreat God. And we're saying, we are your people and you are our God. You made a covenant with us at Sinai. And our part of that covenant is to follow the laws and rules that you gave us. We do our best. But we are flawed human beings, riddled with weakness and tempted by all the things that are bad for our souls. And we're asking you to be gracious with us, and to forgive us when we fall short. Not because we deserve it, but because we're still here and we proclaim your Oneness with love, every single day.

I think that this idea should be very relatable to people here.

The only One who provides atonement for sin is Jesus Christ. Judaism does not teach this universal truth. So how can your religion mean anything to God? Why would He have a relationship with you if you rejected His only begotten Son ? The only way to the One true God is through Jesus Christ the Lord. Most Christians ( and non-jews ) have no idea what your talmud says about them and I suppose you would want to keep it that way.
