Theology / Re: Do you know then God of Jesus?
« on: January 22, 2026, 06:00:10 PM »
@Meshak, I'll quote Jesus' seven "I am" claims to be God with the Father with which he identifies himself directly with the God of Moses' burning bush:

Exo 3:6  And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God....Exo 3:14  God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Joh 6:35  Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
Joh 6:36  But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.
Joh 6:37  All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

Joh 8:58  Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” Joh 8:59  So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

Joh 9:5  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Joh 10:7  So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
Joh 10:8  All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
Joh 10:9  I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.

Joh 10:14  I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
Joh 10:15  just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Joh 11:25  Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
Joh 11:26  and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Joh 11:27  She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”

Joh 15:1  “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

Jesus uses the words "ego eimi" (I--I am) that the Greek Old Testament (Septuagint) uses in Exodus 3:14 to quote God in talking with Moses. Either Jesus is who he says he is in claiming to be God or he is mentally insane. Because he performs many miracles and rises permanently from the dead, he confirms his full deity as God. John says it clearly in his introduction, "Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Thus, the Word, who becomes Jesus when he is conceived and born, is both God and with God. The biblical fact that God is three Persons and yet one God is a mystery that we can't solve with our human minds but is true.

Theology / Re: Just WHO is God?
« on: January 21, 2026, 05:44:16 PM »
My answer is that language fails us in thinking about the mysterious God of the Bible, especially as he is revealed in the Gospel of John, who clearly pictures with Jesus' words the three Persons of God. The rest of the Bible assumes that God is one God in contrast to the multiple gods of the nations around Israel, as follows:

Deu 6:4  “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
Deu 6:5  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4  In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

The Bible uses the pronouns "he" and "him" for God. As a result, I do too.

Controversial Issues / Re: GRAND CANYON PROVES THE GENESIS FLOOD
« on: January 21, 2026, 05:30:21 PM »
Food for thought: Look at Genesis 1 and see that God creates an "expanse" or a "firmament" with waters above and below it on the second day of creation.

Gen 1:6  And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
Gen 1:7  And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.
Gen 1:8  And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
Gen 1:9  And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.
Gen 1:10  God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good (ESV).

Fast-forward to Genesis 7 and see that when God flooded the earth, he opened the "windows of heaven," probably the "expanse":

Gen 7:11  In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.

If this theory of a dome over the earth from Adam to Noah is correct, the earth is a little like a greenhouse that enables humans to live long periods of time. Furthermore, God uses the great amount of water that he has stored above the "expanse" to flood the earth and ends the dome or expanse at the same time.

What do you think about this theory based on the Bible's own description?
