some verses further also says:

40 - Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.
41 - Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.

And it makes me wonder if Jesus is not predicting what is known as the rapture, saving the faithful, leaving the unbelievers behind.

Matthew 24’s “taken” passages are of wicked people “taken” to destruction, not a rapture of believers.
Luke’s parallel Olivet Discourse passage gives more detail and makes this much clearer than Matthew does.

The wicked are ‘taken to destruction’ on the day the son of man is revealed.

Luke 17: 23-37 “And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.
24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot ; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

31 In that day , he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken , and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken , and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken , and the other left.
37 And they answered and said unto him, (Taken)Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the [vultures] be gathered together.”

Jeremiah often made this similar phraseology of the wicked dead carcasses being feed upon by the carrion fowls.

Jer 7:33 - And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth

Jer 16:4 - They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven

Jer 19:7 - And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven

Jer 34:20 - I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heiaven

Controversial Issues / Re: Eternal Torment vs Annihilation
« on: June 18, 2021, 11:07:26 AM »
But the Bible isn't consistent on the issue.

The Old Testament isn't terribly interested in the afterlife, but everyone dies and... that's it. Except for the book of Daniel, which has many people resurrected for life or punishment.

Other good O.T. resurrection passages:

“So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.”
Job 14:12, 19:25

“He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces.”
Isaiah 25:8

“Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.”
Isaiah 26:19

“For You will not abandon my soul to [the grave]; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.”
Psalm 16:10

“As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.”
Psalms 17:15

“All those who go down to the dust will bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.”
Psalms 22:29

“With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.”
Psalms 91:16

“Shall I ransom them from the power of [the grave]? Shall I redeem them from death? O Death, where are your thorns? O [grave], where is your sting?”
Hosea 13:14

Controversial Issues / Re: Jesus is God The Father

I checked a few vids against youtube.
No text summary, and comments disabled.
So to understand the author’s premise, you either have to watch videos, or wait for him to enter into a dialoged exchange.

Also, the authot’s video section has a bunch of extra videos promoting the flat earth theory, fwiw.

Very thoughtful of you to stand this up Tim.

I tried for a few weeks to reach or contact any of the old BF staff to see what happened, but anyone I ran into had no idea what happened.

I can share some light, from a member of the mod-staff, of what didn’t happen.

It was not a planned closure.

After a very rough year of being hacked and losing super-admin access to the site, and fighting a massive porn-bot attack, we were able to get restored several months ago; however the admin access was never fully fixed, and we while the new safeguards stopped the porn-bots, it was still shaky waters without any of our functional mod-staff having full vbulletin or server access.

There was discussion by the staff about the owner Brent (disabled-inactive)’s son Jonathan turning over all access but it had not occurred by the time of the blackout.  There had also been discussion on whether to sunset the site or continue, and the remaining staff planned to continue.

There was a worry about Web77 sunsetting in March, also bringing us down, but we were told the sight was not hosted via Web77 anymore, and shouldn’t be effected.  I believe we surpassed the Web77 shutdown by a few weeks, so it seems that wasn’t the reason.

At this point, that is all I know.

So maybe it will benefit some of the old members who drop in, and wonder what happened.  Basically the mod-staff was just as surprised as to what happened as the regular membership.
