In General / Re: Ash Wednesday / Lent« on: March 19, 2025, 01:57:04 PM »This all gets to the faith vs works "argument" between Protestantism and Catholicism. Works play an important role in maintaining one's good standing with the Catholic church wherein one is "saved". In Protestantism, one's salvation is through faith and managed primarily with God. This is just a sliver of the real issues at hand, but most are familiar with this. And this seems to me to be the real weakness of Catholicism. We can all agree that Judaism is a "works based" (although I prefer the term "rules based" ) religion. Power. You can only have power if you write the rules. Since the Catholic group needed new power with a new group they made up new rules 3

Seriously Wavy Davy. Start with the silliness and you’ll find the door. We don’t call people names, smoke or chew or go with girls who do. And passive aggressive “I CANT SEE YOU BECAUSE IM IGNORING YOU” works with a 3 year old but around here, meh, not so much. When you try to debate (silly abbot, kicks are for trids ), with a conservative devout child of Abraham, you should not be surprised to get push back to your HalLindseyJohnHagee hyper dispensational interpretation of the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings or Matthew 24 Fenris be ahite…. I’m jiggy wid it. Meshugenah shalom and far out. 7

Geez, Wally, and you might get hooked up with Miss Landers in the back of a 55 DeSoto. Incoherence is not a firm foundation for any argument. |
