Ghost for those who don't know is a faux-Satanic Swedish rock/metal band.
I recently heard some songs from a Swedish...I think they're Swedish...band Sabaton. It was playing at the gym I go to. I liked it enough to lookup some of their songs. Even learned some history of that part of Europe I had never heard. Winged Hussars is a thing!

Many years ago as a young Christian I was convicted of the music I was listening to. I was a 80's/90's metalhead. Was the music a sin? No, but God had plans that didn't include that music. I've come to find that the mind is a fertile field. What you plant there determines the fruit that it bears.

Years later, I now understand why that conviction was there. God speaks to me through music...which is odd that I am a non-musician. I can't sing or even clap my hands on beat. Still there have been many times that I've had a question or struggling with something and God speaks clearly through the music I have on. There's just been countless spiritual landmarks in my life of God moving in this way. I'm glad I listened those many years ago.

As I experience God and grow in faith, one of the lessons I continually learn is: God is always working. Seen and unseen. It's God who keeps me alive, sustains me and brings me through the seasons of life.

Thank you for the timely message, and blessings to you Fenris

History is repeating itself...

Quote
A nearby memorial to victims of the Holocaust was damaged in the same strike. The Babyn Yar ravine is Europe's largest mass grave of the Holocaust where between 70,000 and 100,000 people, mostly Jews, were shot by the Nazis.

Mr Zelensky said on Twitter that the attack was "history repeating...".

"What is the point of saying 'never again' for 80 years, if the world stays silent when a bomb drops on the same site of Babyn Yar?" he asked.

Truth is treason in an empire of lies. - George Orwell

I don't trust any government or politician to police speech.

Free speech is foundational to the American way of governance.
I vehemently disagree with limiting anyone's speech. I would not limit someone's speech that they would like to limit free speech. That 's the beauty of allowing the speech to happen. The sharing of ideas can sharpen viewpoints allowing citizens to have the opportunity to have a voice beyond just voting.

Our nation is divided. We focus some much time and energy on our differences that there's little left to find common ground, or at least workable solutions.

But, like the saying goes, the left wing and right wing belong to the same bird.

I vote hoping for the best but with the knowledge that I can't turn to Washington for answers since it's filled with sinners like me.

Just praying that God would stir the hearts of His church to effectively change the hearts of this nations people.

Hey, Kingfisher!

Only had time to watch a couple of episodes, but so far, I'm impressed, and I don't have any problem with the "imaginative narrative."  Much like has been playing in my head for 50+ years...

The story behind the production and distribution is even more impressive.

I love the crowd funded aspect!

The last 2 episodes of season 1 step up the acting and story telling IMO. There's some scenes that gave me all the feels. Looking forward to which stories season 2 takes us through.

Have any of y’all watched The Chosen?

I won’t put any spoilers in this post. If I do in later posts I’ll preface it with <<SPOILER ALERT>>
Can it be a spoiler if you’ve already read the stories :)

I have 2 teenagers and they watched an episode of The Chosen in youth one night. My kids wanted to keep watching with my wife and I. My kids explained that it’s based on the Gospel narrative of Jesus calling His disciples. The show fills in the blanks with their imagination of how things may have went.

With that description I went into watching the 1st episode with a suspicious eye…

What I found surprised me. I found myself enjoying the story.

I also found that this gave a great opportunity to discuss what is actually in the account according to the Bible and what was imagined for the account. Great discussions!

Now, we’ve finished the first season…

My main takeaway is this. I’m not an overly emotional person. I found myself being filled with emotion watching many of the scenes I’ve read about many times acted out.

Eschatology / Re: Chronology
« on: November 30, 2021, 08:12:28 AM »
I've studied the subject and found that I feel as if my understanding is grasping at the wind.

Middle knowledge does a tremendous job of filling in the blanks between God's foreknowledge and man's free will. Still, the more I dig into it the more questions I find that arise from it. That doesn't frustrate me though. These questions arise from scriptural truths. If I see these truths as contradictory it's the folly of my understanding. Not God's Word.

C.H. Spurgeon went on to say this about the subject...
Quote
That God predestines, and that man is responsible, are two things that few can see. They are believed to be inconsistent and contradictory; but they are not. It is just the fault of our weak judgment. Two truths cannot be contradictory to each other. If, then, I find taught in one place that everything is fore-ordained, that is true; and if I find in another place that man is responsible for all his actions, that is true; and it is my folly that leads me to imagine that two truths can ever contradict each other. These two truths, I do not believe, can ever be welded into one upon any human anvil, but one they shall be in eternity: they are two lines that are so nearly parallel, that the mind that shall pursue them farthest, will never discover that they converge; but they do converge, and they will meet somewhere in eternity, close to the throne of God, whence all truth doth spring.

Eschatology / Re: The Temple Sanctuary

I don't blindly accept apostolic tradition, and you do. Because of that, you judge.

Let's move on.

Apostolic tradition is usually ascribed to the RCC. I haven't seen anyone in this thread that is apologetic to the RCC. Am I misunderstanding your meaning of apostolic tradition?

You've also brought up judging several times as if it's something  that a believer shouldn't do.

You quoted Luke 6:37 Do not judge...

But, Jesus goes on in Luke 6:42 saying remove the plank from your own eye. He doesn’t stop there. If He did you would be right in saying don’t judge. He say’s to examine your eye for a plank. Take it out then remove the speck. Examine yourself, then examine the other person. With that context He’s teaching us not to judge with a hypocritical judgment.

Jesus also said:
John 7:24 "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

Paul goes on to teach…
1 Corinthians 5:3 For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Paul then goes on to say…
1 Corinthians 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened.

As can be seen it’s important to judge any leaven that my reside in the lump, then put it out.

Your beliefs are being judged. I see nothing wrong with that. Your salvation has also been judged. The Bible encourages us to do that. Now if I were to say that you are forever lost and have no chance of salvation that would be a judgment to condemnation that has gone too far.
