I came across the view that Christians do not believe that Christ could have sinned and failed in his mission on earth. Well then how could he be 'tempted in the desert'?
Matthew 4:1
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Was it all a charade or could Christ have sinned?
-
Was Jesus fully God and fully man?
-
As fully man how was He tempted..
Hebrews 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
In Hebrews, Jesus is presented as a high priest who intimately understands human struggle because He faced the full force of temptation, yet remained entirely sinless.

What can be said?
Jesus said sin can be forgiven on Earth.
Mark 2:10 Context
7Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? 8And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 9Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? 10But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, "
In Acts we can find this.
Acts 7
48Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? 50Hath not my hand made all these things? 51Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 52Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: 53Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. 54When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
The Just One, in some way may confirm your idea.

The Bible speaks truth...
-
The whole idea of God sinning makes no sense.
-
The whole idea of God sinning makes no sense.
Agreed
Yet the idea of the peccability of Jesus is consistent with the Christian doctrine of the hypostatic union….
I think I need to call Donnal and Conall to explain that…
-
Those two wacky guys.

The Lord did what we have to live and breath by.
Isaiah 45
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
-
The Lord did what we have to live and breath by.
Has nothing to do with what I just said.
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
God is saying that everything that happens in the world, both good and bad, come from Him. You know, God being all powerful and stuff.

I might be a little more specific and say The Lord formed and created those things which have the capacity to sin. They did not have to sin, but the opportunity is there.

You might, but it isn't what the verse says.

Well, the verse doesn't say God in my bible it says The Lord. So, is there a difference in those words? If there are then it doesn't say what you said either.

The Hebrew says YHVH.
A difference in translations doesn't give you the right to add words that God didn't say. Messing with the literal words of God, just to win an argument?

Ha I was the one who quoted the scripture
Isaiah 45
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
You were the one who progressed the discussion. And I didn't realize it was a argument. I was mearly saying that The Lord created beings that have a capacity to sin but they don't have to. I wasn't changing the individual scripture. Knuckle head.

The verse doesn't say that God creates "the capacity for sin". You're adding that because it supports your theology or something. The verse says that God creates evil. Period.
