Title: Jesus Revolution
Post by: RabbiKnife on February 27, 2023, 07:05:49 AM
Saw the new movie, "Jesus Revolution" this weekend.

I wept throughout it.

Dear God, how I long for a faith that simple and open.  Have i told you lately how much I despise what we have done with Jesus?

It looks interesting enough. I'm not much of a movie goer anymore but I'll look for it when it's available via streaming.

It is as much historical as it is evangelical.  Fairly consistent with my previous knowledge of the Jesus Movement from the late 60's-early 70's and the evangelical church's response to the movement, both pro and con.

Definitely a part of 60's history, and interestingly enough, really was the very nacent beginnings of what is now the phenomenom of "Contemporary Christian Music," an idea that had not previously been seen.

I'm all about history, so it's right up my alley.

Spiritual awakenings are not how the end of this world comes about, no matter how much anyone tries to deceive us.

The day of Christ would not even come, EXCEPT, there come a falling away first.

The falling away is for the purpose testified here, ( everything has purpose with God, and nobody can do anything to Jesus Christ, because He is doing all things according to His will.) and the man of sin is revealed, through sitting in the temple of God. ( in man, is the temple of God.)

God is opposed, through an exalted spirit inside people, the people are deceived through all deceit of unrighteousness, through the love of the truth being absent from inside of them.

That is why God Himself sent all this world strong delusion, for that belief in a lie to deceive them all, so they might be damned who believed not the truth, and the lie is having pleasure in unrighteousness.

Thanks is given for the beloved of the Lord, because God had from the beginning chosen them to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit, ( not having pleasure in unrighteousness.) through belief of the truth, ( of Jesus Christ.) where Christ called us by His Gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of Jesus Christ. ( which proves all men's words are vain, and the testimony of Christ is sure in all things.)

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Interesting.... is the movie also about the foundations like "Youth for Christ" and "Youth with a mission" ?

It's a historical narrative of how Calvary Chapel - Costa Mesa was the nexus for the growth of the Jesus Movement in southern California that eventually went nation wide.

Biographical of Greg Laurie and Chuck Smith and Lonnie Frisbee (who had a very difficult and checkered life in the church)

More testimony for the end:

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2 Timothy 4:I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

And my pet rock, Pebbles, is missing.

What does anything you cut and pasted from Scripture have to do with a discussion about a movie?

The geology registration department is very classist.  The lady said "All rocks look the same to me."  They obviously wouldn't know an igneous from an sedimentary from a metamorphic.

Ah yes, the pet rock. Hypoallergenic, didn't bark, required no feeding or walking, and never pooped on the floor. But then, it was a rock, wasn't it? Gary Dahl made a million bucks during the 6 months that the fad lasted, and I'm sure had a good chuckle over the gullible dipsticks that shelled out their 4 bucks. Guess what? It's baaaaaack. The latest hucksters of course, have a web site to help market them. petrock.com (http://petrock.com) Only in America....

Create a psychological need, then fill it.

Truly amazing.
