I'm going to be boring and present the standard secular interpretation.
Jesus of Nazareth believed that the Kingdom of Heaven would be brought about on earth. Meekness was one of the characteristics which he believed was righteous so being meek would be rewarded when the events to come happened.

Good for you!

Mat 5:5
When will they inherit it?

Likely when Jesus says so.
Another item far beyond our pay grade and with no relevance to us at all in our current existence.

To explain, my answer was in response to meshak who has build some of his convictions here (eternal life, Trinity) based on a few single verses without seeing the bigger picture.

sorry. Your assumption is so wrong, friend.
My convictions are not based on a few single verses.
My convictions are based on what Jesus says. I base my conviction on whole teachings of Jesus.

What about -
John 1:9 - The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He [Jesus] was in the world, and the world was made through him [Jesus], yet the world did not know him.
Scripture for you or not?
