On a House resolution to condemn escalating antisemitism on college campuses, 22 progressives showed their true colors by voting it down. (One republican joined them, citing free speech issues). The resolution passed with 213 Republicans and 183 Democrats voting for it, but no member of Congress worth their salt should have voted against condemning antisemitic hate speech.

First, the House should be involved in passing bills to send to the Senate, nit passing non binding opinion pieces

And, I would have to agree that this bill s a free speech right

Until it incites a riot in which case people should be arrested, tried, and uid convicted, sentenced to serious felony level jail time

My views on the matter essentially align with yours. A resolution condemning antisemitism doesn't stop antisemitism, and is more a show of support for Jewish students fearful of the potential violence such an atmosphere can precipitate. I think history attests that hateful rhetoric is more likely to incite violence when Jews are the ones being vilified.

Seeing all the protests and hateful rhetoric against Jews in the world right now, a show of support is really nice.
