The Preacher and the Funeral
« on: April 02, 2022, 02:14:01 PM »
A young preacher who's first church was in a very rural area got a call from a local Funeral Home asking him if he would conduct a grave side service for a man who had died.

It was explained to him that the man who died had been a recluse who had no family or friends, and that it just didn't seem right not to at least have a Minister to "say some words"  as he was laid to rest. Touched, the young preacher agreed.

On the appointed day the young minister set out for the cemetery. Being new to the area, and being that it was a very rural area anyway... the preacher got turned around, lost, and finally arrived about two hours late, just in time to see some workers with a backhoe lower a concrete casing into the ground.

Feeling like he needed to honor his commitment, he got out of his car, walked over to where the wokers were leaning on their shovels, called them together and started preaching over the open hole.

At first there was silence... but as he preached he heard muttered "amens" and "that's right"...encouraged he stepped it up a notch until the workers were shouting out "Hallelujah", "praise the Lord" and "glory!"

Closing in prayer, the young preacher walked back to his car feeling pretty good about it all.

As he walked away one of the workers turned to his friends and said: "You know,  I've been putting in septic systems for thirty years and this is the first time something like this has ever happened!"

Ok

Consider that stolen, Mc!
Danger, Will Robinson.  You will be assimilated, confiscated, folded, mutilated, and spindled. Do not pass go.  Turn right on red. Third star to the right and full speed 'til morning.
